OPEN DAY

Wow!  What a turn-out to the annual Open Day.  Before long our clubhouse was a-buzz with people of all ages and backgrounds admiring the exciting and informative exhibits (see photos below), enjoying free refreshments, chatting to members that were answering questions and informing them about our Club's activities.

There was significant interest in all of the many and varied showcases, all of a very highest standard.

We estimate that over 200 visitors came to our Open Day with some still there after the 3pm finishing time.  As a result we signed up some 15 new members with about 7 of them juniors and got indication of some others considering joining.  Even a journalist from the Hutt News popped by to take notes and photo's.

As for previous Open Days, visitors were given a voting slip to vote on their choice of display.  Tim won the People's Choice award for his "Interesting Rocks" display, closely followed by Pam for her beautiful crystal presentation.  The President's Choice award for best new/novice entry went to Margaret & Nicolai for their "We like it Green" collection.

Our open day was an extremely successful event whcih would not have been possible without the untiring help of all those that contributed.  A very BIG thank you.
